Samir Nasri claims to have completed £15.8m Arsenal move

Samir Nasri has joined Arsenal from Marseilles on a four-year deal

Samir Nasri, the France midfielder, claims to have completed a £15.8 million move to Arsenal.

The Marseilles playmaker says he has signed a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium, which could hasten the departure of Alexander Hleb, with Spanish giants Barcelona leading the race to sign him.

The news was announced by a statement on the player's website which read: “We inform you with the news that Samir Nasri will not be an Olympique de Marseille player next season.

"We also tell you that he has signed a four-year contract with the London club, Arsenal."

Nasri, 20, can operate on the left of midfield, where Hleb has been playing, or through the middle, where Arsenal have a hole to fill after the exit of Mathieu Flamini to AC Milan. Arsenal have yet to confirm the deal.
