There is a disconnect between what graduates want and what employers can offer. Some have tapped into the Zeitgeist, others need to catch up.

Understanding what drives them is the first step. What we know about them from research is that they are generally civic-minded and focused on working for others. But almost paradoxically they are incredibly entrepreneurial. What they want is change, challenge and choice, as well as lots of chance to progress their career, including training from day one. They are also very interested in working for a team, provided they have a chance to be team leader.

They have grown up watching The Apprentice and that is the model they understand.
