1. Eighty-four per cent of managers surveyed by the CMI find it hard to juggle priorities in their working life. The more we feel under pressure, the more likely we are to make mistakes. Set time aside to plan and evaluate. Focus on objectives and decide what must be done by the end of the day/week.

2. Make time to talk to colleagues and customers.

3. Manging conflict. If there is disagreement among members of your team, ask them what outcome they want to achieve. Take the emotion and energy out of a situation; explain that we all want the same end, but there are different means or methods of getting to that end. Get them to talk to each other.

4. Have clear strategic objectives and communicate those objectives. If you don’t you will make mistakes, people will not come to you for advice. Long term that can have a detrimental effect on your career.
