Can I link to Times Online from my blog or in a forum?
Of course you can link to Times Online. We're proud of our Technorati rank which shows we're one of the most influential sources of news and comment online. Tens of thousands of blogs link to our stories and columnists. If you link to an article which has comments enabled, feel free to leave a message and let other readers know you're talking about the story. However, because almost all the material on Times Online is copyright, there are some things to be careful of. It's unwise to copy and paste large blocks of text (i.e. more than 100 words) from Times Online onto your site, particularly because search engines make it very easy to detect copyright infringement.
Obviously, anything which suggests that your site is affiliated with or approved by Times Online, The Times or The Sunday Times would have to be arranged in advance with the News International Syndication Department. You shouldn't copy images, pictures or logos from Times Online onto your own site. We have to negotiate with photographers and agencies for the rights to use images online, and our agreements don't allow them to be used elsewhere. How do I send a letter to the Editor of The Times?
Letters for the Editor of The Times can be sent to letters@thetimes.co.uk, faxed to 020 7782 5046 or posted to Letters to:
The Editor,
The Times,
1 Pennington Street,
London E98 1TA.
Please include your postal address and a daytime telephone number. The Times receives around 500 letters, faxes and emails each day, but only 14-18 are printed in the newspaper. Calm, brief letters stand a better chance of selection than long, intemperate ones.
I'm angry about a story; what can I do?
You can have your say in many ways. Click on Debate on our home page to see where you can post comments directly online. You can post comments on current debates below or on many of our opinion articles. You can also write a letter to the Editor of The Times or The Sunday Times and selected letters will appear online and in the newspapers; calm, brief letters stand a better chance of selection than long, intemperate ones.
Or you can write to Sally Baker, the Feedback Editor of The Times. She will be happy to answer your queries about The Times either directly or in her weekly column. If you are complaining about what you believe to be factual errors and the letters editor does not select your letter for publication, he will forward it to the office of the Editor or the Managing Editor, or to the Feedback Editor (you can e-mail her directly at feedback@thetimes.co.uk ). If the matter warrants correction, we may decide to correct the database and online versions of the story or, for more serious complaints, to publish a correction in the paper. Your final recourse is to the Press Complaints Commission or to the Advertising Standards Authority for advertisements - their websites give clear information about how to complain.
I really enjoyed a story: What can I do?
If you email Sally Baker, The Times’ Feedback Editor, she will be delighted to pass compliments along to the relevant people: feedback@thetimes.co.uk
Can I do work experience at The Times, The Sunday Times or Times Online?
Every week throughout the year we have at least three or four young people doing work experience at The Times and The Sunday Times. Placements are organised centrally and well in advance.
We usually offer a week of unpaid work experience and we do not pick up travel or accommodation costs. Our basic requirements for work experience candidates are that they are no younger than 20 or at least in their second year at university and that they have not been for a placement here before.
Demand is extremely high, and we can only accept a limited number of people. Some weeks are booked 18 months in advance. We mostly look for a good attitude, willingness to do anything and everything, curiosity, energy and ambition. We cannot guarantee hands-on journalistic experience; that depends on the individual’s drive and how busy the week may be.
Here’s how to apply. In each case, send a CV, a short covering letter and the weeks when you’re available to:
The Times: Louise Dawson: workexperience@thetimes.co.uk
or call 0207 782 514 5149
The Sunday Times: Kathleen Herron, Deputy Managing Editor: kathleen.herron@sunday-times.co.uk
Times Online: Jo Giles: jo.giles@timesonline.co.uk
How can I contact The Times Customer Services?

Squashing all the games on to the back page of Times 2, particularly killer sudoku, is not satisfactory. The font size in the killer sudoku is too small for comfort. The puzzles are hard enough without struggling to read the numbers!
PVT, Wirral,
The Dulux ad which pops up when accessing the Times site is very annoying and obstructive when trying to read articles. There also doesn't appear to be a 'close' button.
I would have thought the Times would think through this kind of intrusive advertising before allowing it on its site.
Sarah H, London, UK
Can't get the latest TheGame (Steve Maclaren) podcast to download.
C Slack, Preston,
How can I access previous "Letters to The Editor"? The "Search "facility doesn't seem to be able to bring up - say - 4th Jan 08 or any other phraseology. t
DLT, Wakefield, UK
Synergy, another reason we have so many allergies.
You reported on Monday March 12 2001, under âLive and extremely dangerousâ how Professor of Human Radiation Effects Dr Denis Henshaw and his colleague, Dr Peter Fews, reported how:
â products were attracted to oscillating electrical fields" but "Nobody seemed to spot the importance of that," says Henshaw. Charged particles act as magnets for air pollutants, including carcinogens such as aromatic hydrocarbons from car exhausts. The electric charge gives the pollutant, when inhaled, a greater ability to stick to the lung - so rather than being exhaled, pollutants become lodged.
In the six years since you published this report nothing whatever has been done in terms of EMF health protection or precautions, or is planned. This ugly synergy is being vastly increased by the installation of WiFi systems using mini-masts inside schools.
Rod Read, Cambridge, UK
It's a bit of an unfortunate blooper that you have a banner promoting your rugby survey as the first "of it's kind" (sic) appearing at the top of the online page right next to another banner for your Times Online Style Guide which purports to advise about correct grammar!
Sara Harpenden, London,
Someone asked the question in February 2007 'Where can the Times 'Style Guide' be found in the new arrangement? I don't seem to be able to find it in the A-Z list', to which you responded 'unfortunately, our removal men have broken the style guide. We're working hard to mend it and have it back online as soon as possible.'
Can I please ask whether the Times Style Guide in available agin on your website, and if so, where?
Nicola Rigby, Liverpool,
I was just wondering what the aimed audience for The Times newspaper is and why?
It is for an assignment I am doing.
Thank you
Dom, Sheffield,
Dear TOL
What happened to Killer Su Doku 495? You have published No. 496 under the heading 495. Can we please have 495 tomorrow?
Regards
Becky, Manama, Bahrain
I deplore the inclusion of political propaganda leaflets into my Sunday Times and will not be taking the paper again until this sort of inclusion has ceased.
James Durrant, Bearsden Glasgow, Scotland
I read Times online every morning.
Why can't you dispay the crossword in printable format?
Tony J, Swanage, Dorset, UK
Can we please have back the automatic acknowledgments of any comments we send you? Since the revamp, when my comment fails to be published I'm never sure whether your moderator rejected it or you never received it in the first place.
Barry, Wallington, UK
I haven't been able to find the "modern manners" column. Is this still being published? If so how do i get to it?
Lorraine, perth, western australia
Why does it take such a long time between writing a comment and it being displayed in the 'have your say'?
It kind of discourages discussion - but I suppose you have to read them first to check they're Ok. Is this why?
Alice, manchester,
Scattered all over the newspaper are invitations to tell you how you're doing, with a link to the Feedback page, but on arrival there it seems to be no way to do so.
The Feedback page is full of answers to questions already asked by other people, but there's no obvious way to ask my own questions or make my comments. In fact, the feedback page doesn't encourage feedback.
Right now I'm using "Have your say" but that's not the same. It's aimed at other readers and doesn't have a means of receiving responses from Times staff.
So, if you genuinely want to hear from me about how you're doing, you should give me the opportunity to tell you, make it clearly available, and allow for responses.
Previously it was easy to send a message to Feedback, and Sally even wrote an amusing weekly column about some of the messages she'd received, but now you're simply giving the impression of wanting feedback, but not providing us with the necessary tools to send it to you.

Over the past few weeks I have had intermitent problems with the topic headings and headlines reading as random characters. I have experienced this whilst visitng from 4 different computers, including one Apple Mac.
Mark W, lONDON, LONDON
In the panel above Sally Baker, there is no point to click to get to the Historical Books reviews.
Richard Barrett, Calgary,
I can go to Our Papers, Comment, Letters, and I get the current day's letters.
However, when I select yesterday's paper (or any day other than today's) when I click on comment/letters, I cannot access any of the letters relevant to that day's issue.
Gentian Walls, Liphook,
I'm sorry Miss Fleck, you are clearly too young to have heard the old old expression : "if it ain't broke , don't fix it".
gmf, Newcastle, UK
How can I e/mail one of the letters "to a friend"
john ryan, dublin, ireland
Please tell us where your style guide's disappeared. I'm lost without it!
mefasa, London,
Trying to find AA Gill's tv column is far more difficult than it was in the previous site format, and, like BP in Somerset, I'd also like to know how one can read letters (or articles by the same author) in sequence without having to hit the back button to return to the home page between each of them.
Ruth Qishta, Salmiya , Kuwait
Can we forward articles by e-mail, as we used to be able to, yet? If so, how?
Philippa Russell, Birmingham, UK
What has happened to the Times 2 Quiz? It is sadly missed - please b ring it back.
H.B., Bristol,
I'd like to know what happened to the times2 quiz. We used to have a office get together first thing in the morning to do this and now we don't. Morale is dropping pleae save us!
Chris Masters, Watford, UK
I pay for the premium crossword but can no longer access it. The cosmetic changes are all very well but have broken links that have worked perfectly well for years. Please fix the links ASAP. I am sure this is frustrating many crossword subscribers and is unacceptable - we do pay for this after all.
Phil Townsend, Oxford,
How can I read the letters one after the other without having to go back to the 'home' page after each letter?
BP, Somerset,
This is of minor important however I will ask anyway--where are the daily Times 2 questions and answers. I have dated a man who lives in London for 6 years and we have a routine of doing the times two crossword which I can now access after one day down (thank you) but the questions were fun and enlighten me in the states --no bit deal as I see that So Do Ku is now the game du jour.
Thank you--you have done a great job and it is still my favourite paper. along with the New York Times.
Deborahy Linsley, Newport News, Newport News
Enjoying the new look enormously, however, forwarding articles via the email has changed and doesn't appear to function? A Confused daily reader.
David Isherwood, London, uk
The layout is good, but what's happening to the daily bridge column? I'm beginning to experience withdrawal symptoms.
David Jones, Morbihan, France
How can I find the previous Jumbo crossword - No 682? I was working on it, but because of the difficulties in saving it, I had to start afresh each time. I used to be able to access crosswords by number
Gentian Walls, Liphook,
I continue to try to save the interactive crossword.
Instructions say that I should leave the saving instruction open while I save the crossword. I cannot keep both pages open at once. I always find that the grid disappears and I am back to the general page.
I try saving the grid. There is no 'File' at the top of the page. There is a 'save to favourites' button as usual on IE7. I save to that, but I can't save additions to the crossword as I go along and then access them.
I can't save to desktop either

Gentian Walls, Liphook,
When I get to the Sunday Times online, how do I access letters to the Editor? I tried Comment, but couldn't see them, so in the end had to go to the sitemap. Surely there ought to be a link, or am I blind?
Gentian Walls, Liphook,
I think the colours are great and the layout overall is good. I like the photos of the writers as well. I don't like the fact I can't find T2 anywhere. Please put a link for T2 somewhere on the front page!
Melanie, Bangkok, Thailand
I too would like to know where the T2 supplement has gone. My link used to take me direct to it, and now, even after looking in the sitemap, I can't find it. The site does look good, but its frustrating that I can't find the old faithful links easily...
Erin, Auckland, New Zealand
I have a PC handheld and the weight of your pages means I can no longer access the Times at all. Isn't there a lighter - if necessary a text-only - version?
jgv, london,
Like the format - but how do I have a look at the Sunday Times Magazine? Can't seem to see a link anywhere on the pages. My old bookmark used to link directly.
Deirdre, Melbourne, Australia
What has happened to the T2 supplement?
Patricia Cahill, Perth, Western Australia
There's no need for everyone who reads The Times to read this message, but I don't know how else to ask you. I read many sections of The Times, but the one writer that I find irreplaceable is Derwent May. Where is Nature notes? Thanks.
PS: Line green is fine, and I'm sorry to say this after Sally's account of how much work you've done, but I had no complaints about the previous design--which was pretty new anyhow.
Linda Wyman, Jefferson City, USA/Missouri
Hi - there used to be a link on the Site Map page for T2 - why isn't this there anymore?
Regards
Catherine Finlay, Richmond, Surrey
The homw page doesn't work in Firefox. And it took ages to find where to leave feedback. Not a bad new design if looking in IE, though.
Heidi, London,
What I liked about the Times Online was how it wrapped saucy and clever writing in a stoically traditional visual package; the disjuncture was always pleasing. There's nothing reassuring and stolid about lime green. But my real question is: where's the editor's-choice articles? How can I read the paper now? Cheers....
Jordana Weiland-del Feld, San Francisco CA, US
I am unable to find "Dish" in the food and drink section. You used to have a big range of recipes but these have disappeared. Please put them back, especially the recipes by Jill Dupleix.
Anita Taneja, London,
The new format is very attractive, BUT it is incredibly slow - I do hope this is teething trouble, PS. Saturday's Sudoku is not yet available. Regards
Christine Gibson, maidenhead,
What has happened to the quiz? I cannot find it in the new layout?
Christine, Singapore, Singapore
I am a member of the Crossword Club, but cannot access it now. I do not see anything in your new format that I would consider an improvement. How do I find the Club page?
Dr. John D. Gibson, Toronto, Canada
thanks for making sure the newsfeeds don't work .... yes I have found the new links and they don't work.
David Simpson, Bradford, UK/West Riding of Yorkshire
The main difficulty is knowing what date each article is printed. Obituaries to-day seen to be the same as the previous copy of the Times, and many articles when acessed bear yesterdays date.
Sir John Curtiss, Tauranga, New Zealand
Half the links don't work
Chris Fitz, Wuxi, China
The "new look" is dumb as dog dirt.
Obviously, no opinions were really wanted, for when the button was clicked, the next message was "404 Error The page could not be loaded. "
How is it possible to find hard news of the UK or the world?
When you offe choices ofr: Most Read", "Most Commented", "Most Curious", you are offering the reader only the choices of what OTHER readers have chosen.
Just because it is new does not mean it is better!
Bob Evans, Anaheim, California USA
Very nice bight clean new website. Nice presentation of the Sunday Times. It will take a bit of enjoyable time to get used to. However now would be a good time to so simply correct a lack that has bothered me for years. I like to scan down the long unbroken list of article titles grouped by Sunday newspaper section. I'm always looking for articles or columns written by AAGill and India Knight and Michael Winner and Jeremy Clarkson. But I have to guess at which article might be their's. It would be such a help if you simply added their names at the end of the title of the article so I would know which articles to open in a new window and enjoy. Thank you so much!
Marc Drogin, Portsmouth, USA / New Hampshire
