This Hove-based company is one of Britain’s biggest wholesalers, helping supermarkets, convenience stores and petrol stations keep their shelves stocked. The company handles 69,000 products, from ice cream and fresh fruit to cigarettes and newspapers. It owns the franchises Mace, Supershop and Your Store and the van-distribution service P&H Snacksdirect. It also provides retail outlets with electronic point-of-sale systems, cash machines and hot food and drink vending machines. Chairman Christopher Adams led a debt-funded £298m management buyout last year, when sales reached £4,026m.
