Radcliffe, 19, known to millions as Harry Potter in the films of JK Rowling’s bestselling children’s books, signed a contract worth £8m to make the fifth in the series. The sixth, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, hits cinemas in July, with the final episodes, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts I and II, due on screen next year and in 2011. The London-born actor has already earned £10m from the Potter films. Gilmore Jacobs, the company set up for him by his parents, saw its net assets leap from £9.4m to £12.8m in 2007-08. Forbes magazine’s latest report on the highest paid stars under 30 puts Radcliffe’s earnings in the year to June 2008 at £23.8m, boosted by profit sharing and merchandising spin-offs. Forbes reckons he will add more than £70m with the future films. He has spent £4.6m on two Manhattan apartments and for now we value him at £30m.
