FABIO CAPELLO is already reaping the rewards of his success as England manager, the Sunday Times Rich List will reveal next week. The Italian is a new entry at No 5 in the category of richest managers and players over 30, with a net worth of £30m.

The List, published with The Sunday Times next Sunday, shows him to be the richest manager in English football, apart from the recently appointed Newcastle United boss, Alan Shearer, who is worth £32m.

David Beckham remains by far the richest English footballer, with a net worth of £125m, the same as last year. The Beckhams now rank among the 500 richest people in Britain at equal 426th. Beckham is worth more than three times the second-placed footballer, his former England teammate Michael Owen, who is worth £40m and is the richest player under 30.

The third richest in football is Wayne Rooney, who is worth £35m. Wayne and Coleen Rooney are now among the richest 2,000 people in Britain. To qualify for the Rich List you need to have been born in Britain, live there or have most of your business there.

Perhaps the most surprisingly rich footballer on the list is 34-year-old Robbie Fowler, who joined the Australian team North Queensland Fury last month and whose career has been in slow decline since leaving Liverpool in 2001. However, Fowler has earned well in his 16-year professional career and has invested wisely in property.

The list of top 20 richest players aged under 20 contains several unlikely names, including Newcastle’s Damien Duff and West Ham’s Kieron Dyer. One significantly richer player is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has risen from £15m to £18m.
