Google co-founder Larry Page is an investor with co-founder Sergey Brin in Tesla Motors, which developed the Tesla Roadster electric vehicle. Some £42m has been invested by Google to develop solar and wind power, plug-in hybrid cars and other ideas. One of the aims is to make “RE less than C” — renewable energy cheaper than coal. An alliance with the industrial giant General Electric was announced last September to make this happen.
