The Martin Scorsese documentary Shine a Light put the Rolling Stones centre-stage again this year. Guitarist Wood, 60, is also making a name for himself as an artist to match his musical exploits: an American collector recently paid £1m for a Wood picture. But his recent autobiography, revealed his financial worries and inability to keep his wealth: “I’ve never been good at money. I can earn it and I have piles of it, but my problem comes with holding on to it.” After the Rolling Stones’ Forty Licks tour in 2003, Wood said he was only £1m in debt. He lost millions investing in a London club and, despite his property assets (including a £12m London house), we cut him back to £40m.
