Hundreds of websites were shut down temporarily by Fasthosts, one of Britain’s largest web-hosting companies, after the personal details of customers were stolen by hackers in December 2007. Michael, 28, who started the Gloucester-based internet firm in his bedroom at the age of 17, will be very glad that he sold the business in 2006 to the German ISP United Internet for about £61m. He picked up £46m for his holding.
