Dublin-based fashion retailer Primark, with 173 stores, remains the star performer for its parent Associated British Foods (ABF), the food to retail group. Weston, 44, who is piloting the growth of Primark, led by its flagship Oxford Street store in London, issued a trading update in February saying the group expected good growth. As a result, its shares have largely escaped the worst of the market turmoil. The Weston family has a £900m stake in ABF. Other assets include Heal’s, the furniture group, £85m of dividends since 2002 and property. The Westons made nearly £68m of charitable donations in 2006, helping to take the family £5m lower this year.
