The Lewis Trust Group saw profits rise 57% to almost £244m on £813m sales in 2006. Star performer was the River Island fashion chain with £157m profit. The group, chaired by Lewis, 82, has diversified into hotels, property and banking. The Lewis family and trusts own the £1.5 billion business. Dividends, including £52m in 2006, and property add £120m after tax.
