Westminster, 56, stepped down as chairman of Grosvenor Group in 2007 after 30 years at the helm of his family’s property group. The richest property developer in Britain, he owns vast estates in Lancashire and Cheshire, great swathes of Mayfair and Belgravia in central London, and tracts of land in Scotland and Canada. Grosvenor Group saw its profits rise 23% to £508m in 2006 and its net assets went up to £2.4 billion. About 200 acres of Belgravia are held in family trusts worth about £4 billion. A valuable art collection and family properties add to his wealth.
