Madejski, 67, who has an 85% stake in Sackville Properties, honed his deal-making skills as a newspaper advertising executive before netting £174m from the sale of AutoTrader magazine. With hotel ventures and other interests, the Reading football club chairman is worth £400m, even after charitable donations such as the £2m he is putting into the John Madejski Academy, which will help children develop their talents, particularly in sport.
