Last year the brothers were part of a consortium that spent £1.1 billion buying the retirement-home builder McCarthy & Stone, while they recently bought Northern Racing in a £65.9m agreed takeover. David, 68, and Simon Reuben, 65, made their fortune in Russia’s metals trade, earning at least £1.3 billion. Their property assets, mostly in the UK, are worth at least £1.8 billion and they have £1.6 billion in cash, bonds and an investment portfolio. Personal wealth takes them to £3.49 billion.
