The UK’s leading ceramic wall and floor tile manufacturer prides itself on being at the cutting edge of recycling. Johnson Tiles has been recycling fired tableware scrap from local factories for the past 12 years. The initiative has saved about 20,000 tons of waste going to landfill each year and about 235,000 miles of HGV journeys into the bargain. The scheme has earned the Stoke-on-Trent firm a Queen’s Award for Environmental Achievement.

Workers think the firm’s environmental impact is improving, earning it a green score of 75% in our employee survey. Staff support the company’s investment in eco initiatives (82%), say its green commitments are very serious (77%) and that the boss encourages them to think about energy saving (73%).
