What’s black and white and green all over? Pureprint Group. The printing firm, based in East Sussex, prides itself on being “the UK’s most environmentally sound and sustainable print group”. Employees agree, saying it is serious about its environmental commitments, giving a green score of 88% in our survey.
Word of Pureprint’s eco credentials has even reached Buckingham Palace. The business has been invited there twice to be presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development in 2003 and again last year.
Pureprint’s environmental management system meets the requirements of the international green standard (ISO 14001). Employees understand what this means (82%), and the company is carbon neutral.
An 80% positive green score also shows employees fully understand the carbon footprint, which is eliminated through offsetting.
In 2007, for every 1m sheets printed, 1.43 tons of carbon dioxide were emitted. A campaign to raise staff awareness of saving energy has made a difference and people say their boss encourages them to think about such measures (72%).
Pureprint managers are committed to the environment (84%, a top 20 score) and staff know where to recycle (95%, a top 10 score).
The printing process at Pureprint uses an eco-friendly solvent-free ink and the company offers advice to clients on the best type of paper to use, both for the environment, and for the job. It also has a reputation for being green among the family and friends of staff (86%).

Fantasic news for Pureprint and for the founder of Beacon Press, Mark Fairbrasss for his inspiration. As Australia's leading environmental printing company, we at Finsbury Green drew considerable inspiration from his leadership in an industry that has a poor eco record.

Well done Pureprint! - from a Service Engineer´s point of view having visited many industrial Printing (Flexo, Gravure and Offset ) companies over the last 8 years in the UK and on the continent i believe there's still plenty of "practical" green issues they need to catch up on...
