Aedy goes to Moelis

Moelis & Company, an investment bank, has appointed Mark Aedy to be head of Europe, Middle East and Africa investment banking. Mr Aedy, who will be based in London, has worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank.

Nomura’s oil finds

Nomura, the financial services group, has hired Alastair Syme and James Talbot from Merrill Lynch and Michael Alsford from Morgan Stanley to complete its newly formed European oil and gas equity reseach team. Mr Syme will cover European oil majors, Mr Talbot joins as an industry specialist and Mr Alsford will lead coverage of oil and gas exploration and production companies. They join Iqbal Naseem, who is responsible for covering European oil services companies, and Ryan Kauppila, who will follow European refineries.

Deloitte’s double capture

Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has appointed Nick Robinson as a director in the reorganisation services team and Ali Kazimi as a partner in the funds advisory team. Mr Robinson was a restructuring and distressed funds attorney with Walkers, the offshore law firm; Mr Kazimi was head of investment and operational taxes at Ernst & Young, the accountant.

Piccolomini joins Marsh

Flavio Piccolomini has been appointed as chief executive of Marsh in Italy. Mr Piccolomini joins the insurance brokerage from Willis, an industry peer, where he was chief executive for continental Europe. Emanuele Cordero di Vonzo is promoted to general manager of Marsh Italy. Mr di Vonzo was previously responsible for Marsh’s business management and development activities in Italy.

Glencairn switch

The upstream energy team of Global Special Risks, the insurance broker, headed by Andy Baker, is to join Glencairn Energy. Glencairn is part of the Faber & Dumas brokerage.
