Lazard promotes Weiss

Lazard, the financial advisory and asset management firm, has announced that Antonio Weiss is to become the company's global head of mergers and acquisitions with immediate effect. Mr Weiss joined Lazard in New York in 1993. Since 2006 he has served as a vice-chairman of European investment banking.

Credit Suisse chairman

Subject to election at the AGM, Hans-Ulrich Doerig, the vice-chairman of Credit Suisse Group, will be appointed chairman from April 24. He replaces Walter Kielholz, who is stepping down to focus on his new role as chairman of Swiss Re.

Urs Rohner, the chief operating officer, is expected to become vice-chairman.

Brewin Dolphin changes

Brewin Dolphin Investment Banking has made a series of changes, including the appointment of Tracy MacKenzie as director of its resources franchise in Edinburgh. She previously was head of oil and gas research for Arbuthnot Securities. Craig McDougall joins the Newcastle-based equity sales team of Brewin Dolphin.

Deloitte tax specialist

Deloitte, the professional services firm, has appointed Jerry Gattegno group leader of multistate tax services in its US Corporate Taxes Group, based in the London office. Mr Gattegno was previously a senior partner in the firm's office in the United States.

RBC Capital Markets

RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking division of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Marc Gorr as a director in its global financial institutions business. Mr Gorr, previously with Fortis London, will be a senior relationship manager for all financial institution clients in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

SII appoints Yarrow

The Securities & Investment Institute has announced that Alan Yarrow will be the new chairman from September, when Scott Dobbie retires. Mr Yarrow is chairman of Dresdner Kleinwort Ltd, chairman of London Investment Banking Association, and an alderman of the City of London. Mr Dobbie is retiring after nine years in the post.
