We've made some changes
to The Sunday Times
If you could change one thing in the financial and commercial environment, what would it be? For business to realise that to be successful long term, society needs to be successful. So get involved and take action
What does leadership mean? I have a five Cs model: competence (damn good at getting results); confidence to have the courage to make the tough calls; communication skills, to convey your vision and direction; compass pointed north to your true values; compassion - empathy, not sympathy
Which person do you most admire? My husband, two daughters and mother
Who is or was your mentor? Mentors pick you, you don't select them. I have many
Which is more important, what you know or who you know? What you know, because that's what gets you “who you know”
Does money motivate you? My mother would say money is the root of all evil. If used for selfish reasons it is a problem, but when you can use it to do good for others it is a blessing. Would I be doing this job if money turned me on? What turns me on is helping people to do even greater things than they thought they were capable of; developing talented people to go as far as they can with all that they've got
What is the most important event, good or bad, to happen in your working life? I focus on the good. Looking back, the day I walked into PepsiCo
