Entertainment Rights, the owner of Postman Pat and the Lone Ranger, will this morning unveil a global publishing deal with Penguin for its Tinga Tinga Tales animation.

The group owns global distribution rights for the animation, which is based on a collection of African animal stories, and could become very popular next year when the series is broadcast on the BBC in Britain and on Playhouse Disney in the United States. The deal, for which the company will receive a cash advance against royalties, includes production of storybooks, novelty books, electronic books, audio books and annuals. The news offers the group’s investors some welcome relief after seeing their shares hammered in recent months on a series of profit warnings. The shares rose by 0.24p to 1.49p.

Shares in Renewable Energy Holdings, up 1¼p to 32½p, could also rise this morning with the green energy group set to reveal plans to build what would be the UK’s eighth-largest wind farm. The group has been in talks with Mynnydd y Gwynt, a local developer, since June 2007 about the site, at Llangurig, in mid-Wales, for which it will pay just under £16 million in stages as the project progresses. The wind farm is due to be operational in 2010-11 and will be capable of supplying energy to about 34,500 homes.

Fabian Romania, the Bucharest-focused commercial property group, rose 0.02p to 0.56p after being notified that Finite Assets, a company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, has acquired, as of Monday night, a 20.4 per cent stake in the group. In the past week two significant shareholders have sold off their stakes.

Allied Gold, the miner focused on Papua New Guinea, rose 2p to 13p as it started its investor roadshow.
