Philippe Sands, QC, is a barrister at Matrix Chambers and Professor of Law and Director of the Centre of International Courts and Tribunals at University College London. His practice includes advice and litigation in public international law, arbitration, EU, and natural resources and environmental law, advising or acting for governments, international organisations, the private sector and NGOs. He has appeared before many international courts, including the European Court of Justice; the International Court of Justice and the Special Court for Sierra Leone. Philippe co-directs the Project on International Courts and Tribunals at London University and New York University. He is the author of Lawless World: Making and Breaking Global Rules.
