A "chilli-hot" Brazilian cleaner was facing a substantial prison sentence and deportation today after being convicted of blackmailing a female judge and stealing two sexy videos from a male judge.
Roselane Driza, 37, appeared near to tears as she went down the stairs to the cells. She had been embroiled in a love triangle with the two judges after working for them.
The judges, who worked together at an immigration tribunal, were unaware that she did not have a valid work permit.
The court lifted an order banning the naming of the male judge - referred to throughout the trial as Mr I - revealing him to be Mohammed Ilyas Khan, a Kenyan-born barrister who is now a supervising judge in the immigration courts in London.
The identity of the female judge, referred to throughout the case as Miss J, remains protected.
The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, will decide in the next few days whether to hold a disciplinary investigation into the judges' employment of an illegal immigrant. They could receive a warning or reprimand, although the ultimate sanction is loss of office.
During a torrid week of evidence at the Old Bailey, the court was told that Driza stole two home-made sex videos one of which contained scenes of Miss J and Mr Khan having sex and Miss J snorting cocaine. Miss J denied taking drugs. The other video showed Mr Khan having intimate relations with a blonde woman.
Driza, who appeared in court each day flamboyantly dressed and with outsize sunglasses perched on her head, was remanded in custody until October 20 and warned by the judge that she faced a substantial prison sentence after being found guilty of stealing the videos and extorting £20,000 from Miss J.
She was cleared of blackmailing Mr Khan. She had denied all the charges.
The judges were themselves lovers for a time. But their relationship ended although they remained friends.
After Miss J sacked her, Driza started an affair with Mr Khan and moved in with him. Mr Khan, 60, sent an e-mail describing her as "real hot-chilli stuff" and he told the court that he became a "total puppy" after falling for her.
Driza made an assortment of allegations against the judges during her two days of evidence. She told the court she feared she might be assassinated and said Miss J had been abusive to her. "She was always calling me names. and she was always aggressive to me. I ended up thinking she could pay someone to kill me."
