Olympians competing in Beijing have retained Mishcon de Reya, the firm that represented Diana, Princess of Wales, during her divorce, to ensure that they can criticise China without being expelled from the Games.
Team Darfur, a coalition of athletes concerned about Chinese support for Sudan’s regime, are seeking assurances about the extent of freedom of expression during the 16-day event in August. They are also asking to be allowed to conduct peaceful protests within designated Olympic zones, a move that would be in breach of the IOC charter.
More than 280 athletes from 51 countries have signed up to Team Darfur.

Athletes who are too much preoccupied in politics should better stay away from the competition. They do not seem to have good chance to win. Let those who really want to compete in the Games take their place.

Talking about "human rights" WITHOUT talking about "human wrongs" in EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY on earth is a sure sign to show how many biggots there are.
First + foremost put your house in order before interfereing others, the world will be a better place in harmony.

Claire the clue is in the name, EUROPEAN court. What exactly can it do to China which is not part of Europe?
As far as the athletes are concerned, if they feel so strongly about it dont compete. Put your dream on the line for what you believe in, it shouldnt matter whether they expel you or not, take a real stand.
I am sick of people supporting causes as long as they arn't asked to give anything too real or personal.

I feel that it is about time that the European Court of Human Rights get's involved! Not only are the chinese treating people in there country in ways that breach Human rights law but now that are breaking the Human rights of the athletes that will be participating in the olympic games as well! This is an outrage and should be dealt with as quickly as possible before the olympic games in August!!!! Or doesnt the governments of the Euopean community not really care what the Chinese are doing?
