Bill Tudor John, the senior partner from 1994-2000, is now chairman of the European Commitment Committee at investment bank Lehman Brothers. He is also deputy chairman of the Financial Markets Law Committee, deputy chairman of Nationwide Building Society and a fellow of Downing College, Cambridge.
John Rink, managing partner from 1994-2003, is a non-executive director at Eversheds, the national law firm, and a trustee of TeachFirst, a charity that arranges for graduates to spend time teaching before entering the City.
Guy Beringer, senior partner since 2000, has not announced his plans for life after the law. He will be replaced by the current managing partner, David Morley.
Clifford Chance
Keith Clark, senior partner from 1993-2001, is a banker at Morgan Stanley. He was succeeded by Stuart Popham.
Tony Williams, who became managing partner of the newly merger Clifford Turner and Coward Chance in 1998, served until 2000. He is now principal of Jomati, a management consultancy that advises law firms.
Michael Bray, managing partner from 2000-2003, stayed at Clifford Chance, where he remains a partner in the banking practice.
Bray was succeeded as managing partner in 2003 by Peter Cornell, who served until 2006. Last year, Cornell joined Terra Firma Capital Partners, the private equity house run by Guy Hands, as a partner.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
Anthony Salz, senior partner from 1996-2006 is now executive vice-chairman of N M Rothschild & Sons, the independent investment bank. Christian Wilde, Salz’s co-senior partner from 2000-2004, died in 2004. Salz was succeeded by the firm's current joint senior partners, Guy Morton and Konstantin Mettenheimer.
Alan Peck, chief executive from 1996-2004 is retired. His successor, Hugh Crisp (2004-2006) practices law part-time at Freshfields and is joining the staff of the Oxford University Business School this month. He was succeeded by the current chief executive, Ted Burke.
Linklaters
Charles Allen-Jones was senior partner from 1996-2001, he is now a non-executive director at Caledonia Investments, a London Stock Exchange-listed fund management group.
Anthony Cann, senior partner from 2001-2006, holds a range of non-executive directorships including Smiths News, the paper wholesalers, and Panmure Gordon, the City stockbrokers. He is also chairman of the board of trustees of Changing Faces, a charity that helps people with facial disfigurements.
Tony Angel, managing partner from 1998-2007, is still a partner at Linklaters. He was succeeded by Simon Davies in January.
Slaughter and May
Giles Henderson, senior partner from 1993-2001, is now Master of Pembroke College, Oxford. His successor Tim Clark, senior partner from 2001-2008, is now considering opportunities outside law.
Melvyn Hughes, the firm's current executive partner, will retire next year after a handover period with his replacement Graham White.
David Frank, the current practice partner, plans to retire from the firm next month and will be replaced by Paul Olney.
