Couples will be able to divorce online for £65 from later this month.
Divorce-Online, which will begin advertising its cut-price service on television shortly, says the basic service can be completed in just 16 weeks. Another “managed service” which costs £250 allows couples to get divorced without even taking time off work. The company has designed its TV advert to show that an uncontested divorce, where both parties agree on their finances and arrangements with children, does not have to be an expensive process.
The company denied it was cashing in on other people’s misery, saying that there was a demand for their “no-frills” service.
In 2005 there were 155,052 divorces in England and Wales, representing a divorce rate of almost one in three.

Er, getting the "forms" is FREE - collect from Court, or download from website. Unless you can't agree about kids/property, why would anyone even bother to waste money on legal fees for a service that isn't necessary???
Molly, Southampton,
If it's an uncontested divorce, why is this news? £250 is expensive! I paid £75 to have lawyers complete all my forms and tell me the process. The economy version (£30) meant they just pointed me in the right direction. The lawyers are not hand holding, but it's fine. I have still had to pay £300 to the courts, presumably for the judge's time and the administration.
C Price, London,
Anything that can save money must be a good thing. I never could see why lawyers charged so much when it is all agreed.
