CROYDON A former Daily Telegraph sports writer was cleared by a jury yesterday of drugging two women guests with Valium-laced chocolates in order to have sex with them. Christopher Davies, 58, was accused of hiding pills in puddings.
One woman passed out on a bed and said that she woke twice in the night to find Mr Davies sitting on the bed in his underwear stroking and kissing her. The other found part of a pill and gave it to police. During the three-day trial at Croydon Crown Court Mr Davies contended that he took the tablets because of stress and that, as he was cutting one in half, it must have “pinged” into the dessert.
No decision has yet been taken on whether Mr Davies, of Bromley, southeast London, will face a retrial on another charge related to the alleged incident, after the jury failed to reach a verdict.

I have known Mr. Davies for 25 years and am glad to see that common sense prevailed in this jury's decision. As with any article on a legal trial many details were either left out or slanted to 'entice' the reader. Mr. Davies has distinguished himself as a class sport writer and most certainly a dear and caring friend to many. I am proud to be considered one of his friends.

I'm glad to see that justice has been done,I doubt that there is a single person out there who hasn't accidently drugged a group of women who were staying at their house overnight.
Drugs can fly off in all directions when you're cutting them up with scissors,it was just unfortunate that Mr Davies happened to be preparing a meal when he decided to take his medication.
Our great jury service makes me proud to be British,it would've been easy for them to think that he had drugged the women on purpose but they saw through the prosecution's lies and could see
that this was an accident that could've happened to anyone.
