Nintendo executives believe that a fitness game could deliver a knockout blow to its rivals as the company seeks to dominate the world of consoles.
According to sources close to Nintendo, hopes are high that Wii Fit will convert non-traditional audiences, such as 20-to 40-year-old women, to video games. Worldwide sales of the Nintendo Wii console have already overtaken those of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation3.
In Nintendo’s Japanese home market, its drive to convert entire families into “casual gamers” via easy-to-understand software titles appears to be paying off.
Analysts in Japan are particularly excited by the prospects of Wii Fit because of recent sales of an exercise DVD series called Billy’s Boot Camp. The series recently sold its millionth copy in Japan in a marketing success that has baffled the traditional sports goods industry and revealed a surprise appetite for fitness instruction in front of a screen.

While you're doing all that Matt, perhaps you'd like to learn to spell as well
roy, andover,
After re-reading my previous comment and having a moment of personal reflection, I decided that I shouldn't get so worked up about computer games. Furthermore I have decided to move on and at the ripe age of 43 move out of my parent's basement, loose weight, through away my dungeons and dragon's set and get my self a girlfreind..... and who knows I might even go as far as getting a life...... This is America! Anything can happen!!!
Love
Matt

What's good about the Wii is that it's -different-. I honestly fail to see why people get so incredibly worked up about which console is the "best" in whatever case, but the Wii's merits are not within it's graphics. It's in it's innovation. Nintendo have pushed boundries, both with the Wii and their newest handheld the DS, which is more than you can say for Microsoft and Sony.
Luka Righter, Edinburgh,
What gets me is why everyone gets so emotional about which console is better than which.
I have both Wii and PS3 and I play the PS3 more as it suits my gaming style. The Wii is great for parties and groups of friends but loses a lot in single player. The PS3 (despite what other Fanboys may say) does have games which are worth buying it for. PS3 is already bringing out updates whereas Nintendo so far has been very slow to bring out anything of note since the launch. Both are good, both have their uses. Buy the one you want and keep quiet if you don't like the others...

Alright, I have about had it with all these articles about the wii and nintendo's suposed victory in the console war. Here are some things they overlook that they don't tell you. First the wii is good but isn't even a step above the gamecube when it comes to graphics, second everyone keeps overlooking the release of Microsoft's Halo 3 which is sure to blow anything that Nintendo and Sony have planned for at least 6 or 7 months.
So before you go saying that the Wii has it look at the facts closley please.

the wii sports game that comes with the majority of pre-packaged wii bundles is a fitness regime in itself, the boxing will get you sweating from round one. I think this is a fantastic idea as long as the emphasis is placed on fun and not getting fit, i can't imagine many kids buying a game with sole intention of keeping them fit

Nintendo are streets ahead of Sony this time around.
Whilst Nintendo are getting credit for quality manufactured products, clever technology & innovation, & good value for money as well as good customer relations - Sony has fallen behind in technology, their product offer little by way of features & benefits at a uncompetitive cost and poor quality controls.
Worst of all Sony's marketing is focused on hype, innapropriate advertising messages and poor customer relationships.
