A DISGRUNTLED employee at Wm Morrison has set up a website that ridicules the retailer — and allows fellow staff and customers to moan about the supermarket chain.

Although such sites are popular in America, relatively few British companies have found themselves targeted by dissatisfied staff and customers.

More than 900 people a day are visiting the site — My Life As a Morrisons Employee — which lifts the lid on life inside a Morrisons store, from the quality of staff toilet paper to the tea breaks taken by store managers. Other posts concern Morrison’s attempts to make former Safeway staff sign new contracts.

The website (morrisons-employee.blogspot.com) also provides an insight into the unique culture of Bradford-based Morrison, which bought Safeway for £3 billion last year. This includes the cost cutting — no photocopiers in stores — and reports of nocturnal visits to stores by Sir Ken Morrison, the chairman, who it seems turns up unannounced at stores at 2am to check on the night shift.

The site has also attracted comments from staff working at J Sainsbury and Tesco.

A spokesman for Morrison refused to comment on the website or on claims that the chain is monitoring the site.
