Dawnay, Day Treveria: The largest publicly quoted property fund run by Dawnay, Day has formally severed its links with the collapsed financial services conglomerate. Dawnay, Day Treveria, which sits on a €2.2 billion (£1.88 billion) portfolio of German retail properties, terminated its management contract with Dawnay, Day and announced plans to change its name to Treveria.
Barratt Developments: The housebuilder said that it hopes to reduce its debts with the sale of £109 million of assets from Wilson Bowden Development, the rival builder that it bought last year.
Shaftesbury: The landlord in the West End of London said that it was still seeing strong demand for its units from restaurants and shops for its units as it raised its dividend and said it was confident of its outlook, despite reporting a 25 per cent drop in adjusted net asset value.
AG Barr: The maker of Irn Bru, Tizer and other soft drinks, announced that its third-quarter sales were up bt 15.5 per cent after its purchase of Rubicon, the fruit juice range, strengthened its performance. But it said the economic downturn could affect consumer spending over Christmas.
Alcohol: The Government confirmed plans to introduce legislation targeting irresponsible alcohol promotions, including a ban on “all you can drink” offers in pubs and bars.
MAN: The German engineering conglomerate said that it was planning for a 30 per cent production decline in its core truck business next year and will cut costs accordingly. It is already planning to halt production in its various truck assembly plants for 40-50 days.
GlaxoSmithKline: Britain’s biggest drugs maker is cutting a further 200 jobs at its Barnar Castle factory in Co Durham which makes Zofran, its nausea treatment. Zofran is an older Glaxo medicine which is facing generic competition.
