THE Pop Idol impresario Simon Fuller is trying to boost his earning power by negotiating a fresh deal with the group he sold out to four years ago.

He is expected to own the majority of his next venture — a push into Hollywood — with the Nasdaq-listed CKX owning a minority share. CKX, which also manages the Elvis Presley estate, acquired Fuller’s 19 Entertainment group for £64.5m plus shares.

The move comes after Fuller grew frustrated at the performance of CKX’s stock and a failed attempt to take the business private. In the first nine months of the year, 19 contributed $45.9m (£28m), or 72% of the operating income of CKX.

Fuller, pictured with client Victoria Beckham, oversees Pop Idol in 100 countries and has sold So You Think You Can Dance to the BBC. “I have a new venture with my parent company, which is going to give me that freedom as an entrepreneur to develop new things,” Fuller said recently.

Last week it was announced he would produce a film adaptation of the erotic French novel Bel Ami.

Fuller’s former partner, Simon Cowell, is negotiating for Sony to buy into Greenwell, his new project with Sir Philip Green.
