Today, YouTube's imprecision is worrying, though, because the company is going to dominate online video globally

Steve Chen and Chad Hurley came to Europe today, and for all they have achieved in the two short years since they founded YouTube, the experience was disappointing.

No clear statements on copyright, or on censorship, despite idealistic talk that YouTube can change the world, perhaps by allowing Tony Blair to have his own channel.

Hopefully parent Google, which has a clearer track record on freedom of speech (although not on copyright) will ensure that YouTube gets these issues right. Today, YouTube's imprecision is worrying, though, because the company is going to dominate online video globally.

Its founders should stand up and be counted.
