Born in Argentina, Juan Cabral, the writer and director of the popular gorilla advert for Cadbury, is one of the fastest-rising stars of the advertising industry.
Mr Cabral, 29, was also the brains behind the recent successful Sony television advert campaign. He created the ad featuring paint exploding over a Glasgow housing estate and the more recent Sony Bravia Plasticine balls advert, both of which have won awards.
Mr Cabral, whose colleagues refer to him as “fearless” because of his willingness to take risks, began his career at Agulla & Baccetti in Argentina, where he produced work for Renault, Sprite, HSBC and Coca-Cola, as well as a number of local brands.
In 2001, he moved to Mother, the advertising agency based in London, where he worked on accounts for Orange, The Observer and Fray Bentos.
His real success began when he joined Fallon in 2003. He has since been appointed partner and creative director at the agency, which has a staff of 170. Mr Cabral’s accolades include four Cannes Lions awards and three One Show awards.
Fallon London, well known this year for the creation of the popular Skoda cake advert, was launched in October 1998 by five founding partners, including the present chairman Laurence Green.
The agency’s clients include Asda, Ask, BBC, Ben & Jerry’s, Blacks Leisure Group, Budweiser, Cadbury, Eurostar, Grazia, Lycra, Old Speckled Hen, More Than, Orange, Skoda, Sony, Tate, and Velvet.
Fallon has offices in London, Minneapolis, São Paulo, Tokyo and Singapore. The agency became part of Publicis, the French advertising giant, in 2000.
Mr Cabral is married but has no children.
