Amelia Fawcett, the former Morgan Stanley investment banker, is to be the new chairman of the Guardian Media Group, an appointment in the hands of the Scott Trust, which oversees the newspaper’s affairs. The previous chairman was Lord Myners, now the City Minister.

Martin Graham, head of markets at the London Stock Exchange and a key executive there, has resigned, part of a reshuffle ahead of the arrival of Xavier Rolet, the new chief executive, next month. Mr Graham was in charge of the fightback against new rival exchanges, such as Turquoise and Chi-X.

— There are moves to strip Sir Fred Goodwin, the disgraced former chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland, of his knighthood. Nearly 70 MPs want the Forfeiture Committee to look at the possibility.
— Corpses displayed at a Paris exhibition that claims to educate the public about the human body must be returned to the cemetery, a judge there has ruled. The judge ruled that, despite the organisers’ protests, the exhibition has an obvious “commercial objective”.
— Greg Dyke, former Labour supporter turned LibDem, has agreed to help the Conservatives, the party that once regarded him as a bitter enemy. He has been appointed head of a taskforce that will advise Jeremy Hunt, the Shadow Culture Secretary, on the creative industries.
— The daughters of composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein have sold the rights to their fathers’ works, including songs from musicals such as The Sound of Music, to Imagem Music, which is controlled by a Dutch pension fund, for $200 million (£137 million).
— Judy Craymer, producer of the musical Mamma Mia , has amassed a fortune worth at least £75 million, according to reports in advance of the publication of The Sunday Times Rich List this weekend.
— A scientific study claims to have found that students who chew gum gained better results than nonchewers. The study, presented to this week’s Experimental Biology 2009 meeting, was commissioned by something called the Wrigley Science Institute, whose website can be found on the site of the chewing gum manufacturer of the same name.
— Michael Grade, who has also headed the BBC and Channel 4 in his career as a media mogul, is to go part-time at the end of this year as chairman of ITV. The broadcaster will seek a new chief executive.
— A survey of workers in financial services in London by Infosecurity Europe found that more than a third would steal confidential information from their employer if the price they could get for it was right.
— Anthony Habgood, a much-travelled boardroom veteran best known for his chairmanship of Bunzl and Whitbread, has been lined up as the chairman of Reed Elsevier, Europe’s biggest media group.
