Kentucky net catches the gamblers

The news that Kentucky has won a court order to seize 141 internet addresses used by gambling websites is another protectionist move by American gambling interests. If the domains were taken down, the websites would be inaccessible not only in Kentucky but anywhere in the world.

Steve Beshear, the Governor, claims that the move is to prevent an “underworld” from preying on Kentucky citizens, although he admits that it is also to protect betting on local horse racing. Oh, and he is the man who has campaigned for more casino licences in Kentucky.
