If you've ever made a cup of PG Tips tea or put Persil in your washing machine, you've come across Unilever. The consumer goods giant makes about 150 million products a day, which is a far cry from its origins in the 1890s when William Hesketh Lever came up with the idea for a revolutionary new hygiene product — mass produced, pre-wrapped soap. Graduates looking for general vacancies can choose from a range of sectors, including engineering, finance, human resources, manufacturing and research and development. A separate graduate leadership programme aims to get graduates into senior management jobs in "the shortest possible time" — two years. Participants will specialise in one of six areas, such as customer management, financial management or supply chain management, which requires a degree in engineering or science.
