The Sunday Times Recruiter Forum is a new community for human-resources and recruitment specialists. The Sunday Times has a track record in helping organisations attract and retain the best people: this is evident in its weekly Appointments section and its annual 100 Best Companies initiative.
The Recruiter Forum builds on this success and offers a community environment — both in The Sunday Times and on Times Online — in which professionals can share best practice and discuss the issues that affect recruitment and retention in today’s global marketplace.
Each week forum members will feature in The Sunday Times and have the opportunity to discuss issues online at timesonline. co.uk/recruiterforum.

Reference "HR bosses need to fight back"
Many HR departments appear to have have evolved into strategic planning, administrative, recruitment and development advisors plus statistical services, with or without board level input.
Employers have long known the value of their 'folk' to the business, the Frys, Cadburys, Salts and legions of others. Getting the best return on people verses expenditure to take the business forward is the trick.
Businesses have to be driven, (in the nicest meaning of that), strategy, administration, recruitment, development, stats and services are vital to the business but, in themselves, they are not drivers.
HR need drivers, people who can challenge, and work, upwards, downwards, sideways; tacticians, leaders; sellers; fearless outpput oriented people who, through their own efforts, or through / with others make it happen. There are not nearly enough of these
The role of HR is to drive the best for the business by and for its people.

It was reported in The Sunday Times on 11th March that homeworking has doubled in The Best Companies to Work For (a list compiled in association with The Sunday Times.)
This is further clear evidence that homeworking is a route to recruit and retain top talent.
Which begs the question ...how many HR Directors and executives will be observing National Work from Home Day on Friday 18th May?
