What is it?
E.ON is one of only five energy groups to feature in this year's edition of The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers. Formerly known as PowerGen in the UK, it is a big integrated energy company - generating and distributing electricity and retailing power and gas - and employs 22,000 people. Worldwide, the E.ON group has 88,000 staff and operates in 28 countries.
What jobs are on offer?
E.ON is looking to recruit 65 graduates to start work in September 2009. About half its vacancies are on its engineering programme - working in energy services, central networks, generation or the company's pan-European engineering and technology business. There are up to 15 vacancies on the corporate management programme and a similar number available across the HR, IT and finance functions.
Where are the jobs?
E.ON's UK headquarters are in Coventry, but the company has more than 60 offices, power stations and wind farms around the country, including sites in Cumbria, Norfolk, Merseyside, Cardiff Bay, Yorkshire, the Midlands and Scotland.
What is the pay?
The starting salary for graduates with a first degree is £25,000; those with a relevant PhD or other higher degree can expect £27,300. A £1,500 relocation bonus is available, too.
What is the competition?
Leading engineering and industrial employers typically receive between 20 and 30 applications per graduate vacancy, but recruiters are expecting many more applicants this year as university-leavers turn away from other sectors hit by the credit crunch.
How is E.ON rated?
This year is the first time that E.ON has been listed in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers, appearing as a new entry just ahead of npower, its rival energy company.
How do I apply?
The application deadline for E.ON's 2009 graduate programmes is November 30. For full details see www.eon-uk.com/graduates
