What is it? WPP is one of the world’s largest communications services groups. Its brands include JWT, Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Y&R, Grey, MediaCom, Hill & Knowlton, , Fitch and G2 among many others. Together they provide a wide range of advertising, public relations, branding, relationship marketing, communications and information services. The WPP Group employs about 110,000 staff and last year generated a profit of £6.1 billion from turnover of £31.7 billion.

What jobs are on offer? The group recruits up to ten graduates annually for the WPP Marketing Fellowship programme. This international scheme is based on three one-year rotations with WPP companies, introducing graduates to a different marketing discipline with each rotation. WPP puts considerable emphasis on hiring graduates who can take a creative approach to problem-solving. There is a similar annual fellowship programme for five MBA graduates.

Where? The WPP Group has more than 2,000 offices in 106 countries and graduates could be based anywhere in the group during the Marketing Fellowship programme.

What’s the pay? WPP does not publicise its graduate starting salaries, but the package for Marketing Fellowship is described as “competitive”.

What’s the competition? WPP’s Marketing Fellowship attracts outstanding applicants – not only from UK graduates but from university-leavers worldwide – so competition for the handful of places available each year is intense. It is one of the few graduate schemes that genuinely recruits the “best of the best”.

How is WPP rated? After climbing up The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers for four years running, WPP is now in 46th place, its highest ranking to date.
