Think Money moves up 40 places this year proving that it really is thinking about its employees as well as its customers.

The group is one of the UK’s largest and longest-established providers of financial products and information, providing clients with practical assistance in every aspect of managing their finances from loans and mortgages to banking and debt advice. The workforce believes it is not only principled, but that it makes a real difference to the world, winning it positive scores of 79% and 75% respectively in our staff engagement survey.

Employees have a great deal of faith in chief executive Stephen Stylianou (81%) and confidence in the leadership skills of senior managers (77%) who, staff say, live the values of the organisation (76%).

Opportunities to learn and grow are not limited for the workforce of just over 600 (69%, a top 15 score). A dedicated training centre opened last year and career prospects are good — all but two of the senior managers and all 49 junior managers have progressed through the ranks. Staff at the Salford-based company feel they can make a difference (73%).

Employees have fun with their colleagues who care a lot about each other (both 80%) and feel a strong sense of family in their team (73%). On top of that, managers care about how satisfied people are in their jobs (also 73%).

There are uncapped performance-related bonuses for excellence. Staff are happy with these benefits and their pay (70%) and their health is not suffering because of work (78%).

A free in-house gym opened last year and the company’s benefits package offers various discounts and flexible benefits to suit employees’ lifestyles such as childcare vouchers and the chance to buy and sell holiday entitlement.

The firm supports the Prince’s Trust by helping young people learn skills such as how to compile a CV and it is also involved with two local schools. This commitment and its involvement in fundraising for charities make staff think the firm is doing enough for the local community (71%, a top 10 score) and they don’t think its support is driven by a desire for good publicity, winning it a top 20 score of 64%.

Nor are profit concerns the only thing driving the company (70%), according to employees, who are excited about where it is going (76%).
