Tandberg people don’t see red at work – they just go green. The company is a worldwide provider of video conferencing and mobile video devices, so people don’t need to travel in order to communicate face-to-face.
The 77 employees feel good about the environmental impact of the products they sell and the ecologically friendly attitudes of the organisation. They give the firm’s highest-ranking score (86% positive, fourth) for doing a lot to protect the environment.
The global company has headquarters in New York and Norway, but its UK office is based in Egham, Surrey. Although a third of the team has joined in the past year, staff turnover is just 6% and people feel the company is going places. They believe they can make a difference to the business (84%), find their work stimulating (82%), and are excited about where Tandberg is headed (88%). Employees can relax, too, with few suffering stress because of the job (83% positive).
The company gives everyone 25 days of holiday and helps staff work from home with video technology, mobiles, paid broadband and laptops. There are also career breaks and sabbaticals available.
As well as pointing out the carbon emissions saved by using its video technology rather than travelling, the firm recycles all its rubbish and donates money to various causes.
Benefits are good, too. Everyone has performance-related pay and private healthcare, which includes their families. There is critical illness cover, a wellness programme and – for almost everyone – a car allowance.
People socialise through events such as rock climbing and go-karting, and a monthly massage is available to all.
Senior managers such as Simon Egan, regional director, truly live the values of the organisation (84%) and it is run on strong principles (85%). Tandberg people feel their company and work make a positive difference to the world we live in (82%).
