Its 87 employees have plenty of it and generally don’t feel exhausted when they get home, earning the business a top 10 ranking for this question, with a positive score of 65%. PTS people also don’t feel they are spending too much time at work, giving a 72% positive score in our survey.
With clients that include blue-chip companies and the UK’s leading utilities it may sound as if staff have a lot on their plate but they do not report feeling stressed (88%) or under too much pressure to perform (84%). People find the work stimulating (82%) and say they would not leave tomorrow to go to another job (89%).
Founded in 1999 and run by co-chairmen Duncan Mansfield and Daniel Ferguson, the organisation makes an effort to ensure that staff can work close to home if a project is based in the vicinity.
The technology to support mobile or home working adds to people feeling happy with the balance between work and home life (72%) and their health not suffering because of the job (89%). Benefits include free healthcare and a pension with staff contributions of 3.5% almost matched by the company.
Working as it does on high-voltage projects, PTS has an excellent safety record and staff rank it fifth out of all the organisations surveyed for attention to health and safety, with a 95% positive result.
PTS is also conscious of its presence in the community and makes an effort to give something back with programmes such as sponsoring a children’s football team and running an apprentice scheme that enables local young people to train at college.
As part of its effort to be green, the company is reducing its carbon footprint and employees are happy with the environmentally friendly stance (77%), proud to work for PTS (88%) and would strongly recommend the organisation to others (87%).
