The UK’s leading office recruitment consultancy aims “to make the angels fly above the rest” by rewarding hard work and supporting the personal development of staff. Since it was established in 1986, Office Angels has spread its wings to employ a team of more than 600 people in almost 100 offices across the UK and Ireland.
Staff get a buzz from working here, gaining the firm an 83% positive score. They have fun with their workmates (89%) and feel they can make a difference to the organisation (79%).
Inspiration and celebration are in plentiful supply. The board members, who started out as junior salespeople, prove what is possible, and good performance is recognised by an incentive programme that offers prizes such as trips to Calais and holidays to Las Vegas or Barbados.
Managers regularly express their appreciation when employees have done a good job (80%), care about them as individuals (83% and ranking sixth) and trust their judgment (81%).
Office Angels, a subsidiary of the Adecco Group, believes in respecting the religious beliefs and cultures of its 616 workers, and in equality. Staff can swap one bank holiday for another day off for their own religious festival and, as a member of Race for Opportunity, the firm promotes cultural diversity in business. It also champions the role of women in the workplace.
To help employees get the right work/life balance those with children under six or a disabled child under 18 can take advantage of flexible working hours. No wonder staff say that the company really tries to help its employees (an 82% positive score).
Morale is boosted by a fun budget of about £350 per head. Managers organise get-togethers and there is an annual family fun day at a theme park. Other events such as regular staff surveys, roadshows and strategy away days leave people feeling involved, earning the company an 85% positive score and a top three ranking.
On top of the average £21,675 salary, workers can buy additional holiday through the flexible benefits scheme and those who have been with the company for at least five years can take a 24-week unpaid sabbatical. There is free private healthcare for eligible employees, a contributory pension scheme, subsidised gym membership, eyetest vouchers and dental insurance.
All of this means employees love working for the organisation, the 84% positive score here bettered only by W L Gore.
