The Jenrick Recruitment Group really listens to its employees — and it helps their family and friends to do so too. Four times a year a member of staff wins £1,000 to use for a special gift, and recently one of them bought a digital hearing aid for her grandmother.
The firm works in niche recruitment, finding people for jobs in IT, engineering, medical, commercial and building services work. It has been operating as a private company since 1967, with its head office just outside London, in Walton-on-Thames.
Employees report a close-knit family feel and there are glowing scores for teamwork: people have a lot of fun with colleagues, giving this a 91% positive score, report a strong sense of family in their teams (84%) and say that colleagues are caring (88%). Managers care for people as individuals (84%) while truly living the values of the organisation (86%).
When three female employees had children recently the company enabled them to work part-time, and managers keep an eye on workloads — nobody is expected to put in excessive hours and staff members are happy with their work/life balance (81%), ranking the company fifth overall on this measure.
A solid set of rewards includes holiday entitlement building up to 25 days and a contributory pension. The 55 employees, mostly recruitment consultants, have been there for an average of four years.
There is a fun budget for the annual staff awards and each year everyone is given an overnight stay with their other halves at a luxury hotel.
