What is it?
Although innocent drinks has been in business for less than a decade, the company is the No1 smoothie brand in the UK, with a market share of 72 per cent. Launched by three college friends, their first smoothies were tested at a jazz music festival in 1998, alongside a sign that asked: “Do you think we should give up our jobs to make these smoothies?” They went on sale commercially a year later. Now innocent produces more than
30 different recipes and sells more than two million smoothies each week through 10,000 retailers in Britain and overseas. Last year, the business turned over more than £100million.
What jobs are on offer?
This year innocent drinks caused something of a stir in British universities by launching its “Grass Roots” recruitment programme. With five vacancies for outstanding graduates, the scheme offered
sixteen months' training with the company's commercial team. New recruits spend three months with a personal one-to-one coach to learn key sales skills - and get to drive one of the company's distinctive grassy vans on factfinding visits to suppliers, depots and sales outlets, before taking responsibility for several of innocent's customer accounts.
Where are the jobs?
Innocent employs 275 staff, most of whom are based at its headquarters - Fruit Towers, in Hammersmith, West London. There are also offices in Manchester, Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Salzburg, Hamburg and Copenhagen.
What's the pay?
The package for graduates who joined innocent last year included a “competitive” basic salary, personal bonus, profit-related pay, a company share scheme and private healthcare.
How is it rated?
Despite offering graduate jobs for the first time in 2008, innocent drinks was the second-highest new entry in this year's edition of The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers.
How do I apply?
The company has yet to announce any graduate vacancies for 2009, but full details of other opportunities are posted at www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/careers
The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers is based on research with more than 15,000 final-year university students.
