Nottingham University Business School's campus, with its bowl-shaped building, is as distinctive as its programmes. The school claims to be the first in Britain to offer an MBA in corporate social responsibility (CSR). Ethics are a key component of all its MBA courses.
Vital statistics. Applicants should have a first degree and at least four years’ work experience. A GMAT score of at least 600 is preferred. As well as CSR, the school offers specialist MBAs in areas such as financial studies and entrepreneurship. All full-time MBAs are 12 months and include core subjects and elective modules. In the general MBA, core modules include accounting and finance, management information systems, managing people and marketing; elective modules include corporate finance, games and strategies for business, economic crime and public services policy. Fees for 2008-09 are £17,500 (UK and EU students) and £18,500 (overseas students).
Ranking. The school is 28th in the Beyond Grey Pinstripes Global 100 ranking of institutions that integrate social and environmental issues into their curriculums. It is 62nd in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Which MBA? guide 2007 and 76th in the ft.com global MBA rankings 2008.
International experience. The school offers an international MBA (which costs slightly more than the other programmes), in which students follow the core modules of the general MBA and then choose elective modules from partner institutions all over the world, including Germany, France, Canada and Australia. Work experience. The school has partnerships with the likes of E.ON and Rolls-Royce as well as small companies, not-for-profit organisations and creative industries. Summer internships are ten weeks long.
Application deadline: apply any time for entry in September/October but the school advises getting your application in early
