AMERICA’s International Trade Commission has approved its first investigation into suspected Chinese government subsidies to exporters since 1991.
The investigation has been sparked by a complaint from New Page Corporation, a manufacturer based in Ohio, which claims China is selling coated paper in America at below fair-market value.
Active team tempts investors A NEW venture from the team that built up Active Hotels, the online booking service that was sold for $161m (£82.4m) two years ago, has raised £2.5m from investors.
Reevoo.com was founded by Ben Griffiths, former chief technology officer at Active, and its backers include Roger Graham and Andy Phillips, who were Active’s chairman and chief executive.
The latest funding was led by Eden Ventures, headed by Ben Tompkins, a telecoms banker who previously worked at Jefferies Broadview. Reevoo collects and provides customer reviews for websites including those of Comet, Dixons, Currys, Jessops and Orange.
Tompkins said such reviews encouraged customers to buy, thereby converting website visits into sales.
Reevoo will be paid a commission for customers who buy goods from its partners after first visiting its website.

Sir Digby Jones
IN our coverage of our Business Person of the Year award last week, we were incorrect in our reporting of Sir Digby Jones’s involvement with Isoft. We said he was still on the board of the company in February this year, when he stood down in July 2005. We also said he had attended only one meeting of the audit committee in his last year with the company, without pointing out he resigned from the committee in May 2004. We have apologised for our inaccuracy.
