Awards have gone to Helen Weir, group finance director of Lloyds TSB; and Bibie Boerio, MD of Jaguar.
Young winners have included Jennifer Harris, MD of JRBH Strategy & Management; and Sarah Hunter, head of investor relations for BAA.
Natalie Massenet of Net-a-porter.com and Tamara Hill-Norton of SweatyBetty sportswear shops are among the winning entrepreneurs.
THE JUDGING PANEL
Harper’s Bazaar editor Lucy Yeomans, deputy editor Harriet Green, publishing director Tess Macleod Smith and contributing editor Heather McGregor; Anoushka Healy, editorial communications director of The Times; Charlotte Thomas, global communications director of Aquascutum; and previous winners Sian Westerman of NM Rothschild & Sons and Mich Turner, founder of Little Venice Cake Company.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Businesswoman of the Year should have excelled in her professional life for at least 10 years and shown an ability to use her skills outside her own career, by serving on the boards of artistic or charitable organisations or committees that affect public life or further the interests of women in the workplace.
The Young Businesswoman of the Year should have demonstrated outstanding achievements in her career.
The Entrepreneur of the Year must have come up with a great idea that has made a significant impact in the marketplace.
THE PRIZES
Winners get a day in London, hosted by Aquascutum, a bespoke suit, a handbag and a visit to the Aquascutum Design Studio; a year’s membership (worth up to £2,280) of London’s Elemis Day Spa, including a spa therapy and full-size product, from a personalised prescription, every month for a year; and a pair of return flights to New York on SilverJet, the UK’s first all-business-class airline.
HOW TO ENTER
You can nominate yourself or someone else.
All entrants should describe, in no more than 200 words, the nominee’s job title, responsibilities, achievements to date and other positions held; and explain, in no more than 200 words, why the nominee deserves to win.
Applications should be sent, together with a CV, your address, company information and any other supporting literature to: Harper’s Bazaar & Aquascutum Businesswomen of the Year Awards, Harper’s Bazaar, National Magazine House, 72 Broadwick Street, London W1F 9EP.
The closing date for applications is 25 May 2007, and the results will be published in the October 2007 issue of Bazaar Business.
COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS
Entrants must be 18 or over and resident in the UK. The competition is open to women only. Only one entry per person will be accepted. Send entries to Harper’s Bazaar & Aquascutum Businesswomen of the Year Awards, Harper’s Bazaar, National Magazine House, 72 Broadwick Street, London W1F 9EP, to arrive no later than 25 May 2007. Only the winners will be contacted personally. A list of winners can be obtained by sending a SAE to the above address. Acceptance of an award constitutes permission to use the winners’ names for promotional purposes, without additional consultation. The competition is not open to employees of the National Magazine Company, The Times or Aquascutum. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes must be taken as stated, and cannot be deferred, although the National Magazine Company reserves the right to change the prizes in the event of unforeseen circumstances. There will be no cash alternative. Flights are subject to availability. The winners agree to take part in publicity as a result of the competition. The National Magazine Company does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
