The current Bond has no style. He has become a two dimensional action hero as incoherent as Rambo at his worst. The shaky camera action sequences reminded me more of a bad remake of the Blair Witch Project. If this is the best they can come up with then the Bond franchise is in its death throes.

Craig is Bond. This is the Bond that Fleming wrote. This is the Bond that Connery portrayed in the first four films. Quantum is incredible, but you have to appreciate the new camera language the director uses with jump cuts - camera work that imitates/enhances the action onscreen. Awesome film.

I would like to echo some of the comments above. Handicam is no substitute for cinematography. I want to see the car chase from a proper distance to fully appreciate it. I find the chase footage disorienting. Bourne 3 and Blair Witch have a lot to answer for.

I though it was great - the first Bond film that kept my attention all the way through... most of them can be a chore sometimes but this is fast paced, Bourne style fast fighting action. If I'd change anything I would remove "this is double our usual rates" bit at the end - awful plot!

Like the fact it is just back to basic bond with no stupid invisible cars or other over the top gadgets but the storyline was useless. After an amazing first film this new one was awful - Not really any scary bad guy and too much confusion with bond chased by MI6 CIA Police and back again.

Bond is a classic in lighthearted action and one liners. These past two movies show how the movie industry has turned to indorsements to fund their films. You watch 007 for the outrageous explosions, and huge risks, usually with a count down and a giant red button. This was all stylish rubbish.

As a bond film this is the poorest we have ever seen .. we being self, wife and two teanage sons from the x box shoot em up kill them all genre of games.

Last family outing was Dark Knight - by conparison 007 was a tired, anti climatic flop.

Very dissapointing! No humor, no gadgets and no real 'bondness' in that film. It felt like a typical action shoot em up film that wont live long in the memory. I also feel that Bond has been altered to suite foreign audiences. There was no British feel to the movie.

Contrived or senseless in places. Storyline gaps. Repetitive formulaic action, basic continuity flaws. Average performances from many including Judy Dench. Excellent performance from Craig, but overall a dissapointment. An amateurish job from Foster from a franchise requiring far more polish.

Daniel Craig is the best bond, but Quantum of Solace was a bit of a disappointment. I loved Casino Royale so expected a bit more from the latest James Bond film. It all seemed about stunts more than anything else. The baddies were not menacing enough either.

Bond used to be charming, hot, funny, manly. All of that is gone with Craig. If Craig would be the cause for Bond movies success, all his other movies would be box office hits too. They're not, so Craig is not the reason Bond movies reek in viewers. People just like the plots. The actor is second.

Really dissappointed with this film - it is not Daniel Craigs fault as he is a great actor but he is no Bond. Casino Royal and QOS is neither Bond or Bourne quality really - these last two films just do not fit right. Sadly seem rather dated which is a shame as I do love a bond movie just not these.

If you loved CASINO ROYALE then I'm afraid you will hate QUANTUM of SOLACE - it's a mess - and that is such a shame after we all thought Craig was the saviour.
Alot of people who haven't seen QoS are sticking up for the movie believing it to be another cracking Casino Royale but truly it is not.

Just watched a screening today and I'm afraid I found it very disappointing after Casino Royale, & so did all of my group. The villains are about as scary as a boy scout and the characters have no depth. Also the humour and glamour has now all but gone.
I would give CR 4/5 and Quantum 3/5.

Daniel Craig is not meant to be charming and the lady killer. He is raw emtionless and this what he was trained to be. He is learning about himself and how he should be a double o. Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are prequals to Sean Conerys film first film. We learn about the dark side of bond

I really like the idea of continuity between this Bond film and the last. Also having grown up with all the "Bonds" I agree that Daniel Craig is right on in his up to date portrayal. I just hope they can keep the the action sequences believable with a down to earth Bond(ing).

So much of Casino Royal looks like an early Bond film: the scene after the car crash, Bond rushing into a doorway in a hotel hallway or sitting in M's apartment, etc. But Craig channels both Connery and Flemming's creation: A brutal killer, trusting his hands more than any gadgets or guns.

It was a shame that Timothy Dalton's Bond was out of place - end of the Cold War and all that. But when he sought revenge for the death of Felix Leiter's wife, I thought he was very menacing. Daniel Craig is absolutely magnificent. He is even more menacing and totally believable.

Connery was peerless in his version of the cheeky, womanizing commander Bond, as deft with a PPK or judo move as he was maintining his macho while sipping a martini. Craig owns this new incarnation. Don't even mention Moore, Dalton, or Bronson in connection to Bond. They were Hollywood implants.

Dalton was great in License To Kill, one of the best Bond films ever made, however he was rather wooden in Living Daylights, which by contrast was cheesy rubbish. I think that's why Dalton is controversial. Craig is excellent, as he brought out the vulnerability + hardness not seen since L To K.

Tinothy Dalton the best Bond? He was even worse than Moore who at least did not try to act-Dalton was more wooden than the scenery.
I feel that Craig is the closest to the original concept and a great actor.

The real Bond first appeared cold-bloodedly dispatching the treacherous unarmed doctor in Dr No, but slowly faded from view to finally reappear in the opening scene of Casino Royale. Quantum of Solace has the revenge driven cold-blooded Bond I've been waiting so long for. Bourne lite? You wish USA.

Flemming's Bond was a sociopath. Flemming actually tried to kill him off at the end of the book, From Russia with Love. Why should anyone dispair that Bond in films have a dark side?

I found it all a bit too cheesy (yes I know it's supposed to be) but all gadgets and not much real action, but Daniel Craig changed my view - Bond is now a real action hero. Watched him filming the new movie in Sienna and can't wait to see the finished film

This is what annoys me. These are all the reasons people (wrongly) disliked Dalton, the truest incarnation of Bond we have had to date. Dalton did gritty and deadpan first.

Reviewer James Christopher refers to Agent Field as 'raven-haired' - funny, I've never seen a raven with red-brown plumage. Why use a tired old cliche as a description when it isn't even accurate? This sloppy writing makes me disinclined to give the review any value at all.

Good! Bond's a hard, self centred man you mess with at your peril. It's good that they have finally bought this out with Daniel Craig. (Timothy Dalton was the next closest to the books.)

I saw the first pre screening of the movie on Friday in London & i must admit i was disappointed. I found the plot incomprehensible and Craig still a superb Bond has reverted back to cartoonish super hero and the vulnerable side on show in Casino Royale has gone. Having just read the Ian Fleming books, it is amazing how unlike James Bond Daniel Craig is.

Craig is like some ugly,cold, classless killing machine and the Bond of the books is a much more soft and romantic hero that dreads killing at all and always falls for the girls.

I'm more than happy about the direction the Bond films are taking. I have to say I hated the last few Brosnan films (although I thought the dark Goldeneye was excellent), and their "ridiculous villains and even more ridiculous plots" were the cause.
