The Other Boleyn Girl

“To get ahead in this world you need more than fair looks and a kind heart,” observes Thomas Boleyn (Mark Rylance) as he watches his children playing. The world in question is 16th-century England, and getting ahead is a matter of obtaining the King’s patronage and a favourable marriage. Alas, the very same conditions could have the opposite effect (losing your head).

This is not quite the bodice-ripper that it pretends to be – while it moves quickly and looks handsome enough, it feels like a small-screen drama. There is a difference: a trio of imported movie stars, each easy on the eye but hopelessly miscast. Portman and Johansson get As for effort, but neither suggests any depth, while Bana’s Henry VIII might as well be the Incredible Sulk.

I was abit disappointed with the film, I thought it was ment to be based on the book, not much was like it, I would recommend the book to anyone not the film. Should have had more from the book and not other stuff added.
